MEMORANDUM – COVID-19 Update

August 6, 2021

Dear Canterbury Residents, Employees, Family Members, Trustees, and Community Partners,

I’m sorry to have to report for the third time in a week that we have another known case of Covid-19 in our independent living. The positive individual is vaccinated. We are presuming that the spouse is positive as well. The spouse will get tested today and remain quarantined until either receiving a negative test result or 10 days if a positive test is received. We have done contact tracing with the couple and will notify anyone that they have indicated they have been in close contact with unmasked indoors for more than 15 minutes to get tested and/or quarantine. Including the presumed positive case, we currently have three active Covid cases at Canterbury, all in independent living.

Due to the recent cases, effective immediately, masks are required for everyone at Canterbury Court, including residents. Masks should be worn at all times except in dining, inside a resident’s apartment, or outside. No guests are allowed in the dining room at this time. All visitors must check in at our front desk to be screened. We will continue to monitor covid cases and the positivity rate and determine if additional precautions need to be taken.

If you are experiencing any Covid related symptoms which include fever, chills, headache, runny nose, congestion, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, please remain isolated until symptoms are gone and/or get a Covid test. For residents who are feeling ill or wish to be tested onsite, please call the healthcare clinic at x3159 to schedule a home visit. Do not come to the clinic. Testing through our lab may take a few days depending on the timing of when they pick up the test. For residents who can drive, we recommend visiting an offsite testing location that generally has same day results. CovidCareGA which was doing testing at the Brookhaven Marta station has moved to the Fiesta Plaza located at 3371 Buford Hwy, 30319. They have same day test results and are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9am – 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 4pm. Please wear a mask and remain quarantined if possible until you have a negative test result and/or symptoms have subsided.
