Dear Canterbury Residents, Employees, Family Members, Trustees, and Community Partners,
Today we have learned of 3 additional Covid-19 positive cases on our second floor Nursing Pavilion. These 3 cases include 1 additional staff member and 2 residents bringing our total number of positive cases in our nursing home to 3 staff and 2 residents. There are no other active Covid-19 cases at this time elsewhere in our community. The staff members are showing mild symptoms at this time and neither resident is currently showing any signs of symptoms. Family members for these residents have been contacted.
In response to these cases, we will be going back to our tightest level of safety precautions for our second floor Nursing Pavilion and quarantining the entire floor. All staff entering a resident’s apartment will wear full PPE including N95 masks with a surgical mask on top and gowns. Gowns and surgical masks will be disposed of after each resident visit. All communal dining, activities, and garden visits or residents on the second floor will be temporarily discontinued until all cases are recovered. All nursing home residents will be tested weekly and all healthcare staff will begin bi-weekly testing.
We hope that these actions will enable us to limit further spread of the virus.
