MEMORANDUM – COVID-19 Update

September 22, 2020

Dear Canterbury Residents, Employees, Family Members, Trustees, and Community Partners,

Last week we notified you of two staff members in our Nursing Pavilion who have tested positive for Covid-19.  Today we learned of a third staff member who has also tested positive.  Healthcare staff have been testing weekly per Centers for Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines and we are now increasing that to twice weekly due to the increase in positive cases.

All residents in the Nursing Pavilion have also been tested. All results in at this time are negative.  All Nursing residents will be retested again in 10 days.

For resident and community safety, additional restrictions have been put back in place for our Nursing Pavilion. Last week, all communal dining and exercise classes in the Nursing Pavilion were paused and garden visits were cancelled.  Healthcare staff are wearing face shields in addition to their masks while in a resident’s apartment.  Salon services for Nursing residents are also being discontinued for the next few weeks.  No changes are being made at this time to our practices for Independent Living or Personal Care (third floor) residents.

All other results from our monthly testing for non-healthcare staff have come back negative. We will continue to update you as we receive any additional test results.
