Dear Canterbury Residents, Employees, Family Members, Trustees, and Community Partners,
On Monday, I sent out a notification about an employee who tested positive in our healthcare department. Unfortunately, we did receive news today that another employee who works in in the same department has tested positive for Covid-19 as well. The employee began experiencing symptoms on Wednesday and was able to receive a rapid result test this morning.
Per CDC protocols, we are identifying all individuals that were in direct contact with this employee (closer than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) up to 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms and following our quarantine protocols as appropriate. A copy of our Covid-19 policies and protocols is available on our website. In addition, we are reaching out to families to test all of our second floor residents. At this time, none of our healthcare residents are showing signs or symptoms of the virus. We are also encouraging many of our healthcare employees to take a second COVID test this week.
For resident and community safety, we will be returning to more restrictive standards for our Nursing residents which includes the following changes. No changes are being made at this time to our practices for Independent Living or Personal Care (third floor) residents.
- We have decided to pause all communal dining and the exercise activity on our second floor.
- All of our healthcare staff will be wearing face shields, in addition to their masks, while in a Resident’s room.
- We will be cancelling our garden visits for our second floor residents.
At this time, all the other employees from this department who tested on Monday have come back with negative results. The remainder of our staff have participated in testing this week. We will notify you of any positive results we receive for any of our employees, outside caregivers, contractors, or community partners.
