MEMORANDUM – COVID-19 Update

July 16, 2021

Dear Canterbury Residents, Employees, Family Members, Trustees, and Community Partners,

It has been 5 months since our last Covid communication. Given our 100% vaccination status with both residents and staff, we had hoped that that would have been our last communication of positive test results. Unfortunately, the vaccines are not as effective at preventing infection with the new Delta variant, currently the dominant strain of the virus in the US. Last night we learned that a staff member who is fully vaccinated has tested positive for Covid-19. This staff member is experiencing cold like symptoms.

We have identified all individuals who may have been exposed to this individual for an extended period without masks and they will be getting tested for the virus. Per CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated individuals who have been exposed to someone with Covid-19 but are not experiencing any symptoms do not need to quarantine.

We will continue to maintain our current Covid-19 protocols which require all staff, visitors, vendors, and outside caregivers to wear masks throughout the building. All visitors, vendors, and outside caregivers must check in at the front desk for screening. Masks are optional for residents.
