MEMORANDUM – COVID-19 Update

August 2, 2021

Dear Canterbury Residents, Employees, Family Members, Trustees, and Community Partners,

We have a second vaccinated IL resident who has tested positive for Covid-19.  That individual is experiencing symptoms.  The CDC has changed their guidance for vaccinated individuals who have been exposed to someone with known or confirmed Covid-19 and now recommends that those individuals test 3-5 days after the exposure. We have identified those individuals and they are being tested.

The vaccine continues to be our best protection, but it is important to note that it does not prevent you from being infected and potentially transmitting this new Delta variant.  The CDC is now recommending that vaccinated individuals wear masks when indoors in public places.  The City of Atlanta has also issued a mask mandate for all indoor public places.  We have not reinstituted our mask mandate for residents within Canterbury, but we are strongly encouraging them at this time. We will continue to monitor cases and determine if additional measures need to be taken.

As a reminder, all employees, visitors, and vendors to the building are still required to wear masks within Canterbury.  All visitors and vendors should check in at the front desk.  Due to

the Delta variant, plans to begin allowing guests into our dining rooms again have been paused.

If you are experiencing any Covid related symptoms which include fever, chills, headache, runny nose, congestion, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, please remain isolated until symptoms are gone and/or get a Covid test.  For residents who are feeling ill or wish to be tested onsite, please call the healthcare clinic at x3159 to schedule a home visit.  Do not come to the clinic. Testing through our lab may take a few days depending on the timing of when they pick up the test.  For residents who can drive, we recommend visiting an offsite testing location that generally have same day results. CovidCareGA which was doing testing at the Brookhaven Marta station has moved to the Fiesta Plaza located at 3371 Buford Hwy, 30319.  They have same day test results and are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9am – 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 4pm. Please wear a mask and remain quarantined if possible until you have a negative test result and/or symptoms have subsided.
