President's Message

Presidents's Message

As you explore our Web pages, you feel encouraged to take the next step and schedule a visit, come and experience firsthand what Canterbury Court has to offer.  At Canterbury Court, you can meet the residents, listen to their stories, and witness why they choose to live here. Meeting our staff members will let you know why we receive comments from our residents, telling us, the staff is like family.

Canterbury Court was the first full service continuing care retirement community in the Atlanta area. It remains a church sponsored, not-for profit organization providing all levels of care (wellness, preventive, assisted living and skilled care) on one campus. This full continuum of services on-site, managed by Canterbury Court’s staff, ensures the best possible care and attention.

Astute management and solid board governance since 1965 has enabled Canterbury Court the foundation of a sizable endowment. In addition, retained earnings have been used to continually enhance our buildings, amenities, and services over the years. We learn from the past while adopting new ideas, as the procession of board and staff members continues. Our goal and commitment is to provide a financially viable, well-managed and attractive facility with services ensuring an exceptional environment in which to live.

Come and visit. Meet our wonderful staff. You will find Canterbury Court a community nurturing and deeply involved in the care and comfort of all who live here.

Sincerely,

Paul J. Elliott

Trustee Comments

I’m grateful you have chosen to navigate through our website and explore the wonderful community of Canterbury Court. Studies have revealed that “welcome letters” such as this are rarely read through to the end, so I have chosen a slightly different approach in hopes that you will continue on - I’ll choose the words of our residents rather than my own to describe what makes Canterbury such a special place.

“When I moved into Canterbury Court, I asked a resident how long it took her to feel at home here. She said about fifteen minutes. That was indeed the case with me for the warmth of the welcome was instantaneous.”

“It’s as near to heaven as I ever hoped to be.”

“I count my blessings each day for my inspiring, congenial Canterbury friends, and for the security, care and comfort furnished by the extraordinary staff.”

“And that is the essence of Canterbury – the outreach of friends and the feeling of family here.”

“The Wellness Center is a major addition, and the gardens are such a plus to our campus.”

“It is a truly remarkable institution.”

“Your staff has been unfailingly courteous and competent. They always showed Daddy respect and care.”

“Canterbury Court has been a blessing not only to my father, and my mother, but also to me and my siblings because we could always be confident that you were treating our loved ones with the highest possible standards of care.”

“I’m very proud to bring my family and friends here, and I truly feel blessed to be a part of this community.”

“We appreciate so much the willingness of Canterbury Court to list and act on resident suggestions.”

“We feel like we live in the Ritz Carlton.”

“I was unprepared for entering such a friendly place with so many interesting people.”

“Our grandkids want to come visit us.”

“The staff is remarkable.”

“A great sense of community greeted me here.”

“The facilities are wonderful and the entire staff superb.”

“I never dreamed I would find happiness in a retirement center.”

I’m glad you’re still reading so I’ll quickly conclude with two brief comments of my own. First, it has been a great and humbling honor for me personally to serve on the Board of Trustees as it has provided the privilege to collaborate with some truly fascinating people. Thanks for letting me share some of their remarks with you. And second, notice how often “community” is utilized above to describe that which is Canterbury Court. Indeed we are a very special place. Come see us.

Sincerely,
